Waterton Lakes National Park Canada August 28 2016

Waterton Lakes National Park in Canada and Glacier National Park in the United States are connected by the mountains.  The mountains and lakes are magnificent in each park.

Waterton Lake
  at Waterton Lake Townsite

Waterton Lake Town is a small place located on the shores of  Waterton Lake.  There are plenty of great places to eat and shop in this little jewel.  After exploring the town and having a great lunch its just a short walk over to the lake where benches and picnic tables are available right near the water.

Spotted this adorable camper and 54 or 55 Ford while wandering through the town.
Not many towns do you spot a deer eating grass and wandering through the town. She didn't seem to be bothered by people taking her photo.

The Prince of Wales Hotel

The Prince of Wales Hotel was built by the American Great Northern Railroad sometimes between 1926 and 1927. The hotel was designated a National Historic Site of Canada by the Canadian government in 1995.

After a great lunch, some shopping, exploring, and resting by the lake we drove to the Red Rock Canyon where the views were spectacular.

Cross the bridge for a walk or use the path next to the canyon and walk down into the canyon. Since the signs said the rocks were slippery and to beware of the dangers we chose to view the canyon from the paths.

We continued our journey through the park and enjoyed seeing all the scenery.  As we traveled along we spotted two bears on the side of the mountain.

The streams are beautiful with crystal clear waters and the rocks are a variety of colors.  Its rough on the bare feet but the water was just the right temperature to wade around in.

of course there is always one in the crowd that won't participate and chooses just to stand on a rock

The weather was perfect in Canada this day. If you have never been to Waterton Lakes National Park in Canada I hope you will get to visit one day.  We are all looking forward to visiting this great park again.
